Protecting Source Location Privacy in IoT-Enabled Wireless Sensor Networks: The Case of Multiple Assets

چکیده

A major limitation to the use of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) in asset monitoring applications is security and privacy, particularly privacy source location information. In this article, we develop two phantom routing-based solutions provide for case multisource/asset scenario—the that has received very little attention literature. The idea routing relay packets a distant node random fashion obfuscate traffic flows confuse attacker. first technique backward walk (PRBRW) uses combination (RW) greedy forwarding approach route base station (BS). Although better performance improvements terms capture ratio safety period it hampers lifetime network poor entropy metric. To problem, an improved scheme L-path RW (PRLPRW) proposed. second three phases: 1) pure RW; 2) L-walk; 3) walk. This performs well ratio, period, metrics. improvement 10-folds 477-folds when compared with PRBRW. evaluated using developed analytical models baseline protection-less shortest path (SPR). It observed PRBRW PRLPRW, respectively, have 60- 73-fold SPR, whereas existing forward techniques, only 54- 34-fold improvements.

Protecting Source Location Privacy against Wormhole Attack Using Dawn in Wireless Sensor Networks

As sensor-driven applications become progressively more integrated into our lives; issues linked to sensor privacy will become increasingly important. In wireless sensor networks, adversaries can make use of the traffic information for locating the monitored objects. Network coding has been shown to be an efficient approach to improve the wireless system performance. In a wormhole attack, the a...

Protecting source-location privacy based on multirings in wireless sensor networks

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are expected to be widely deployed to collect data in military and civilian applications. Because of the open nature of WSNs, it is easy for an adversary to eavesdrop sensor communication and to trace packets, causing privacy concern for the sensor devices. The privacy issue, especially location privacy, can be critical for monitoring applications in WSNs. A uniq...

Source Location Privacy Considerations in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks is considered to be one of the cornerstones of Ambient Intelligence since they can be used in countless applications, where sensors are unobtrusively embedded into the environment to perform operations like monitoring, tracking and reporting. In such scenarios, privacy issues must be carefully considered since the mere observation of the network operation might reveal g...

Location Privacy Issues in Wireless Sensor Networks

We discuss location privacy issues in wireless sensor networks. We consider sensor nodes with more responsible roles and the need to protect locations of such nodes. Available countermeasures against various types of traffic analysis attacks are examined and their problems are identified. We do not propose new traffic analysis resistance technique. Instead, we draw attention to blanks in curren...
